Playback is not smooth.
If you are using a file ending with a '+' symbol it is unlikely you will get smooth playback.
Files ending with a '+' are High Quality with Alpha support. It is recommended to use these files when converting to other file formats.
Poor playback can also be due to the system you’re playing the media on, struggling because of;
1. A large file size making the CPU and Drives work hard, also a problem if you have slow data transfer rates.
2. Heavy compression making the CPU work hard.
3. A heavy alpha channel making the CPU work hard.
4. To many layers playing or active.
5. To many files loaded into the media server/VJ program
You could try converting the video file to a smaller resolution or removing the alpha channel or even both.
DivX or XVID can give good compression ratio but not great when scratching.
If you do not intend to Scratch, Reverse, Pause, or random frame play then using a different file format like H.264 will give you much smaller file sizes but not recommended for VJ's that like to mash it up.
